David Tekin is a graduate lawyer from Germany. Instead of starting to work as a lawyer, he has devoted himself to investigating the legal certainty in different countries in the Middle East in accordance with international law. He is now working on a PhD regarding the legal situation of Assyrians in Syria, Iraq and Turkey. He says that the only possible region for Assyrian self-determination of any kind is in the Nineveh Plains because of the population rate. But calling yourself “Christian” only, will not grant any ethnic rights. That is the reason Barzani and other Kurdish leaders are trying to deploy the indigenous Assyrians of their ethnic name and refers to them as “the Christians of Kurdistan” whereas Assyrian Church leaders swallow this propaganda joyfully.
David Tekin has so far written about half of his Ph.D thesis and plans the rest to be finished during 2018.
