Rev. Emanuel Youkhana of the Assyrian Church of the East in Nohadra is the establisher of the Assyrian Aid organization CAPNI (Christen Aid Program Nohadra – Iraq). Since 1993 CAPNI has been working in the service of the Assyrian Nation as a Christian, but not a church affiliated organization. After the tragic events of the summer of 2014, when ISIS expelled the Assyrians from the Nineveh Plains, the priority of CAPNI is to ensure a further Assyrian existence in the Nineveh Plains, which Rev. Youkhana considers not only a geographic place, but the core of the Assyrian Nation. He is working closely with other Christian organizations, both Assyrian and European, and gets the main part of its funds from Germany.
CAPNI has also provided the Assyrian refugees in Gozarto (Syria), Southern Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Jordan etc with basic aid and sustainable needs such as education for the children. CAPNI has also two mobile clinics in Nohadra serving the Assyrian IDPs.
