The Assyrian writer and activist Souleman Yousef is telling us what happened during last week in the city of Hassakeh in northeastern Syria when clashes broke out between the Kurdish forces of Asayish and the Syrian army. He also analyzes the current situation and suspects that all was a political show by the regime in the ongoing development of the war. He says the Assad regime still needs the PYD Kurds against the opposition. Therefore they are still in charge of the security in the Gozarto province, to which the provincial capital Hassakeh is now added. August 19th the general command of the army in a statement called them ”PKK criminals”. Four days later the regime left Hassakeh in their hands, says Mr. Yousef.
