Jameel al-Jameel, member of the Nineveh Plains Protection Units, NPU, tells about the recent Kurdish abuses of power towards the members of NPU. When visiting their families in Nohadra (Duhok) or Arbil the NPU soldiers are prevented from returning back to the Nineveh Plains, where the NPU keep the security by an agreement with the Iraqi government. At different Kurdish checkpoints the returning NPU members are interrogated, and the Kurds clearly show their dissatisfaction about the success of NPU and its cooperation with the central government.
Although the government in Baghdad has not paid the latest salaries of the 9th regiment of NPU yet, the moral among NPU soldiers is very high to defend their ancestral land and maintain its security, Jameel says. The Kurds want to take our areas, but we will never surrender, he adds.
He also forwards harsh criticism to the Assyrian political parties for being submissive to the Kurdish acts of abuse against the Assyrians.
