Jamila Kako is one of the Assyrian hostage from Khabur who was together with about 250 other Assyrians in captivity. She tells about how ISIS attacked the Assyrian villages of Tel Hermez and Tel Shamiram February 23, 2015 and how the hostage was released a year later.
Shamun Kako escapes to Hassakeh with his family and tells how many Assyrians are left today in each village – in total 800 to 1000 persons. They both praise the huge efforts of the Assyrian Bishop of Hassakeh Mar Afram Athnail who collected the ransom demanded by ISIS among churches and organizations until the last hostage was released. Sadly ISIS executed three and one woman, Maryam, is still the captivity of a jihadist.
