Mr. Isa Rashid Isa, the chairman of Nsibin Institute for Assyrian authors in Qamishli, was badly beaten this morning by two men, supposedly from the Dawronoye group. Mr. Isa was beaten with sticks on his head and was sewed with 13 stitches. The reason is that he refused to accept the Kurdish ultimatum to implement PYD curriculum in Assyrian schools by Monday August 24. During a meeting with the Dawronoye cultural institute Olaf Taw and Elisabet Gawriye, co-chairman in Kurdish so called Jazeera Canton, last Thursday, Elisabet threatened Mr. Isa not to refuse the Kurdish curriculum. She also claimed that the Dawronoye has an agreement on the issue with Patriarch Aphrem II and the local Bishop. When asked, the Bishop denied any such agreement.
The Nsibin Institute for Assyrian authors is providing the Assyrian schools with education material.
