The Assyrian Federation of Sweden sent an invitation to the Syriac Federation of Sweden and the World Council of Arameans, WCA, the 28th of January 2016. The invitation was sent in order to ask for an unconditional meeting to discuss a possible cooperation regarding common issues, such as actions regarding the ongoing genocide against our people in the Middle East.
The Syriac Federation quickly responded and said they were interested. But ever since, the issue has stalled and until this day no definite answer came has come from the Syriac Federation.
WCA never responded and are most likely a hindering any attemps of cooperation with the Assyrian movement. That is what Abboud Gabriel from the Assyrian Federation of Belgium and Johann Roumee from the Assyrian Federation of Central Europe, based in Germany, thinks.
The Aramaic Federations in these countries have thus far turned down all initiatives from the Assyrian side who want to make common cause when it comes to Seyfo and similar issues.
Ultimately, this Aramaic refusal is leading to a permanent division among the people, says Roumee and urges all parties to assume their responsibilities. Afram Yakoub believe it is tragicomic that the Aramaic side is refusing to cooperate and to stand up for our people in our home countries at a time when our people’s existence is threatened. If we cannot cooperate now – then when will we otherwise do so?
