Varför måste han avgå? Kan han stanna kvar medan regimen reformeras? Hur kommer det sig att ADO står på samma sida som Muslimska brödraskapet med tanke på erfarenheterna från Egypten och Irak? Vilken är kurdernas roll i oppositionen? Hur ser morgondagens Syrien ut? Det är frågor som både rör och upprör många assyrier. Här försöker vi leverera en del av svaren.

Den så kallade revolten i Syrien
Revolutionen i Syrien har påverkat den assyriska (kristna minoriteten) befolkningen samt resterande invånare i landet. Många av Syriens muslimer eftersträvar Bashar Al-Assads avgång med omedelbar verkan därav revolten som försiggår i landet.
Det finns ett flertal kristna politiska (Assyriska) partier som inte kan enas politiskt vilket medför splittringar bland det Assyriska folket. Denna splittring har en stor påverkan på Assyriernas situation då situationen samt politiken skulle se annorlunda ut om vi skulle vara enade.
Al-Assad styr landet med hänsyn till den kristna befolkningen (Assyrier) som lever i symbios med muslimer samt alawiter. Assyriernas nuvarande situation i Syrien ser mycket bra ut då dem får leva i frid trots att dem är en kristen minoritet och har/får mycket goda möjligheter till bland annat utbildning samt arbeta i politiskt syfte vilket är straffbart i länder som i Irak, Egypten, Sudan, Indonesien, Saudiarabien mfl.
Är vårt folk så naiva att dem går på allt dem utlovas från islamisterna som vill avsätta Assad och ta över makten. Är vårt folk så felbedömande att dem är villiga att utsätta sin religion samt sin frihet för att stödja ett krig mot kristna.
Till Er som stödjer revolterna, är Ni medvetna om att det dör en kristen var femte minut för sin tro till Jesus Kristus? Främst förbrukas detta hänsynslösa våld mot kristna i Mellanöstern samt Afrika. Notera att statistiken är baserad på endast antalet kristna som dör på grund av sin religion och inte i exempelvis krig, rånmord, dråp. Ska vi då stötta ett parti som muslimska brödraskapet som står bakom revolten i Egypten!
Vi måste stödja Al-Assad efter allt gott han har utfört mot oss kristna. Att han beskyddar den kristna befolkningen bland barbarer som är redo att utföra masslakt på kristna så fort den så kallade revolten avtar. Att vi assyrier har utlovats gröna dalar och skogar är inte första gången, vi kan ta Irak som ett exempel. När Saddam avsattes blev kristna assyrier halshuggna, kidnappade, våldtagna och kyrkor sprängs än idag i Irak. Assyrierna är under ständigt hot och den assyriska minoriteten har blivit minskat markant på grund av Iraks nuvarande situation. Det är just detta som inväntar om Al-Assad avsätts i Syrien. När vi ställer oss mot Assad gräver vi vår egen grav, vi måste vakna samt agera innan det är sent, vi måste nå ut till våra landsmän och förmedla kunskapen och stötta Al-Assad för att han är till vår fördel!

ADO:s linje om att vara med i oppositionen är bra, men det skulle funka i teorin. Verkligheten är helt annorlunda. Syrien kommer bara bli en ny Irak för vårt fok. Vi kommer att betala högsta priset.

We should be prepared for everything that comes but should stay NEUTRAL. This is the best solution for a minority in the Middle East.
Therefore I don’t think that the step the ADO is taking is right.
If the regime falls, the profiteers will be the Sunni Arabs (with the Muslim brotherhood) and the Kurds.
The ADO should learn from the example of Iraq, the persecution of Assyrians by Kurds and Islamic Arab forces and the Kurdification of Assyrian lands in Northern Iraq.
Assyrians should not support any decision of the so called ”opposition side” that recognizes one-sided demands that benefit at the end, if we look at it more profound, only Kurds. See at North Iraq and the established Kurdish tyranny there and keep in mind the chauvinistic goals of the Kurds.
Keep in mind the goals of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Keep in mind also the ideaology of the Baath.

And there is a great distinktion between Iraq and Syria. In Iraq there was an foregin invasion that led to the fall of Saddam. In Syria there is an national concern to bring Al Assad down. In Iraq there wasnt any cooperation between the minorities to bring Saddam down. In Syria the minority organizations have come togheter to bring Al Assad down.
You say "Keep in mind the goals of the Muslim Brotherhood." What do you mean? What are their goals? Not what you have heard but what you know for a fact.
And if we do not fight back now, when are we going to fight back? We will allways be the overlooked ones. If we havent parished in a period of 50 years...

I do not like and I do not support the Assad regime. I am against their Arabization policy towards our Assyrian people and their oppressive regime. My only concern are our Assyrian (Suryoyo) people and what will happen to us when the regime falls, although I don’t think that this regime will last long even if it survives this time this turmoil. What I said is that we should keep neutral and be wise in our decisions. I don’t like short-sighted and naive decisions.
Your description of the situation in Syria and Iraq is not really so as you express it. In Iraq, beside the American-led invasion, also many groups came together to bring Saddam and his regime down. I am against the Kurdish tyranny in Assyria (BethNahrin) and will always be. Therefore I refuse any kind of work with others that would lead to the strengthening of the Kurds. The American administration and other Western countries strengthened the Kurds in north Iraq since the 1990ies. In Syria the situation is similar and if a direct invasion would have been possible, there would be maybe also an invasion, who knows. It is all about politics, interests and power and there are many hands (in the form of support) involved in these issues and sides.
The Muslim Brotherhood has clear goals based on the Quran and other Islamic teachings, formulated also by the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood Hassan al-Banna. They want to introduce everywhere the Sharia and establish the Islamic Caliphate.
“According to al-Banna, “It is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated, to
impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet.” The
Muslim Brotherhood’s motto ist: “Allah ghayatuna Al-rasul za'imuna. Al-Qur-
'an dusturuna. Al-jihad sabiluna. Al-mawt fi sabil Allah asma amanina. Allah akbar,
Allah akbar. (…)
According to al-Banna, the Caliphate must govern all lands that were at one time under
the control of Muslims. He stated:
We want the Islamic flag to be hoisted once again on high, fluttering in the wind,
in all those lands that have had the good fortune to harbor Islam for a certain
period of time and where the muzzein’s call sounded in the takbirs and the tahlis.
Then fate decreed that the light of Islam be extinguished in these lands that
returned to unbelief. Thus Andalusia, Sicily, the Balkans, the Italian coast, as well
as the islands of the Mediterranean, are all of them Muslim Mediterranean
colonies and they must return to the Islamic fold. The Mediterranean Sea and the
Red Sea must once again become Muslim seas, as they once were.8
Once that is accomplished, the Caliphate is to be expanded to cover the entire globe,

Also the nationalistic-chauvinistic Kurdish goals of establishing a great Kurdish state encompassing Assyrian lands in northern Iraq, northeast Syria and southeast Turkey should not be forgotten.
These groups will not hesitate to deceive and come with sheep’s clothing until they reach their first goals and consolidate themselves.
How did the situation for the Copts in Egypt get better since Mubarak has been toppled? I do not see an improvement. The established unjust and oppressive structures remain, only some of the rulers/authorities go and are changed by others.
